Report: NHL cancels games through Nov. 30

The National Hockey League told teams it has canceled all games through the end of November, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported Friday.

Hockey Night in Canada’s Elliotte Friedman sent the report on Twitter, saying the league had notified teams of the decision. The CBC said the league was expected to announce the decision publicly Friday.

The development follows the NHL Players Association’s rejection of the league’s latest contract offer calling for a 50-50 split between players and owners of hockey-related revenue and no pay cuts. The league has rejected three counterproposals by the NHLPA.

An NHL cancellation of all games through Nov. 30 would bring to 326 the total number of games canceled due to the owners’ lockout of players.
