Hitomi Obara of Japan won the Olympic gold medal Wednesday in the 48-kilogram class of women’s freestyle wrestling

The silver medal went to Mariya Stadnyk of Azerbaijan and bronze medals were awarded to Carol Huynh of Canada and Clarissa Chun of the United States.
