MLB: N.Y. Yankees 5, Los Angeles Angels 3
Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson each hit two-run homers Saturday, carrying the New York Yankees to a 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Cano’s shot in the first inning — his 21st of the season — erased a 2-0 Angels lead and Granderson’s 24th homer of the year in the third put the Yankees ahead as New York went on to clinch its three-game series.
Cano added a run-scoring single to finish with three RBI for the American League East-leading Yankees.
Freddy Garcia (4-2) got the win despite issuing five walks over five full innings, and the New York bullpen combined to toss four scoreless frames to secure the victory, with Rafael Soriano nailing down his 22nd save.
Angels starter Jerome Williams (6-6) was tagged for five runs on seven hits over six innings.
Alberto Callaspo drove in a pair of runs while Mike Trout added three hits for Los Angeles.
