MLB: Minnesota 10, Kansas City 8

Trevor Plouffe blasted two homers Sunday, including a go-ahead shot in the sixth inning that rallied Minnesota to a 10-8 victory over Kansas City.

The Twins fell behind 5-1 in the top of the sixth but came back with five in the next half-inning to gain the upper hand.

Brian Dozier led off with a triple and scored on Denard Span’s bunt, cutting the deficit to three. Minnesota then put the next two batters on and Josh Willingham followed by belting a three-run homer off Bruce Chen (7-7) to tie the score.

Plouffe promptly pounded Chen’s next pitch into the left field stands, putting Minnesota ahead for good.

The Twins outfielder also homered in the second, while Drew Butera added a three-run blast as Minnesota took three of four from the Royals.

Jeff Grey (4-0) earned the win with a scoreless inning in relief of starter Francisco Liriano.

Chen ended up allowing six runs on six hits in a 5 2/3-inning effort.

Irving Falu went 3-for-5 with four RBI and Brayan Pena knocked in a pair for Kansas City.
