MLB: Cincinnati 6, New York Mets 3
Todd Frazier finished off a four-run eighth with his second homer of the game Wednesday, rallying the Cincinnati Reds to a 6-3 win over the New York Mets.
The Reds faced a one-run deficit heading into the eighth, but produced a big inning that included Frazier’s second and third RBI of the game. The three runs batted in equaled his career high.
Frazier brought Cincinnati within 3-2 with a solo shot in the seventh and the Reds then got to the New York bullpen in the eighth.
Drew Stubbs opened the eighth with a single off Jon Rauch (3-2), moved to third on a double by Joey Votto and scored on a single from Brandon Phillips.
Jay Bruce delivered another run with a sacrifice fly and Frazier then hit a homer to center on the first pitch from D.J. Carrasco, the Mets’ third pitcher of the inning.
The win went to Jose Arredondo (3-1), who worked the seventh inning in relief of Mike Leake. Sean Marshall struck out one in the ninth while picking up his seventh save.
New York lost for the third time in four games.
