Japan bests Tenn. for Little League crown

Noriatsu Osaka went 4-for-4 with three home runs Sunday to help power Japan’s 12-2 rout of Goodlettsville, Tenn., for the Little League World Series crown.

Osaka finished with four RBI, Yuta Ishida homered and drove in three runs and pitcher Kotaro Kiyomiya allowed just one hit over four of the game’s five innings for the Japanese squad.

The Tokyo team had reached the championship match by defeating Panama, 10-2, in Saturday’s semifinal.

It marked the second LLWS crown for Manager Yoichi Kubo and eighth overall for Japan.

Brock Myers hit a solo homer for Goodlettsville, which had made the final following a wild 24-16, seven-inning win over Petaluma, Calif.
