HKS Inc. to design Vikings stadium
The Minnesota Vikings and the public board overseeing construction of the team’s new stadium announced Friday HKS Inc. of Dallas will design the facility.
HKS will be paid $34 million to design the nearly $1 billion stadium that will replace the Metrodome as the NFL team’s home venue.
“I promise we won’t let you down,” said Mark Williams of HKS. “A few years from now, when we walk in there, it’s going to be an absolutely incredible experience that will change people’s lives in this state.”
Lester Bagley, spokesman for the Vikings, said the firm was the most creative of the five finalists and will design “a world-class facility” for the team and its fans, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.
HKS, which recently designed stadiums for the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts, beat out Ewing Cole of Philadelphia, HNTB Corp. of Kansas City, AECOM of Los Angeles and Populous of Kansas City, Mo.
