Browns’ Haden suspended four games

Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden Monday was suspended for four games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.

A statement issued by an NFL representative said the suspension without pay would become effective immediately, meaning Haden would be eligible to return following the Browns’ Oct. 7 game against the New York Giants.

ESPN reported Haden — who had appealed the ruling and lost — tested positive in the off-season for the stimulant Adderall.

The cornerback made six tackles and an interception during Sunday’s season-opening loss to Philadelphia Sunday.

Dimitri Patterson will replace Haden in the starting lineup, The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported.
