Rapper Nelly has been released from police custody in Texas after someone in his entourage said heroin found on their tour bus belonged to him, TMZ said.

Seven people, including the hip-hop artist, were detained Wednesday by authorities after the bus they were riding in was stopped at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca and a police canine detected the presence of drugs.

TMZ said police allegedly found on the bus 36 small baggies of heroin and more than 10 pounds of marijuana, as well as a loaded .45 caliber pistol.

Passenger Brian Keith Jones told police the drugs and the gun were his.

Jones was arrested, while Nelly and the other five passengers were released, TMZ said.
