‘Modern Family’ embraced at Emmys

The sitcom “Modern Family” won the Emmy Award for best comedy series in Los Angeles Sunday night.

“Modern Family” co-stars Eric Stonestreet and Julie Bowen earned the prizes for best supporting actor and actress in a comedy series, while the show also scored the trophy for best directing of a comedy.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus was named best actress in a comedy for her work in “Veep,” while Jon Cryer snagged the best actor in a comedy statuette for “Two and a Half Men.”

Talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel served as emcee of the night”s festivities, which ran for 3 hours and aired on ABC.
