‘GH’ actor John Ingle dead at 84
Actor John Ingle, who has played millionaire Edward Quartermaine on the U.S. soap opera “General Hospital” since 1992, has died, his family said.
He was 84 when he died Sunday. The cause has not yet been disclosed.
“Father, Husband, Grandan, Great Grandan, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Teacher, Inspirer, Mentor: May You Soar with the Angels. You will forever hold a special place in the deepest corners of our hearts,” his family said in a Facebook posting Monday.
“GH” executive producer Frank Valenti also confirmed the actor’s death via Twitter.
“With great sadness, I share the news of John Ingle’s passing. We love him and will miss him. John will always be a part of the #GH family,” Valenti tweeted.
It is unclear how Ingle’s death will be dealt with on the daily daytime drama, since he is still appearing on previously recorded episodes. His character Edward was seen last week surviving an incident when a madman put a pathogen in the Port Charles water supply. Fortunately, an anti-serum was administered to the populace before the upstate New York city was wiped out.
Ingle, a native of Tulsa, Okla., graduated Occidental College in Los Angeles and worked as a teacher of English and theater at Hollywood High School and Beverly Hills High, People.com noted.
He was married to Grace-Lynn Martin for 58 years until her death this past February. They had five daughters, the celebrity news website said.
