‘Avengers’ tops DVD sales chart

The ensemble superhero picture “The Avengers” is the top-selling DVD and No. 1 rental in the United States, Rentrak reported Tuesday.

Coming in at No. 2 on the DVD and Blu-ray sales roster for the week ending Oct. 7 is “Cinderella,” followed by “Dark Shadows” at No. 3, “The Hunger Games” at No. 4 and “Snow White and the Huntsman” at No. 5.

Rounding out the top tier are “People Like Us” at No. 6, “Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3: Viva La Fiesta!” at No. 7, “How I Met Your Mother: Season 7″ at No. 8, “Sons of Anarchy: Season 4″ at No. 9 and

“Bond 50: Celebrating Five Decades of Bond 007″ at No. 10.

The No. 2 DVD rental for the week ended Oct. 6 is “Five-Year Engagement.”

“Battleship” is No. 3, “The Hunger Games” is No. 4, “The Cabin in the Woods” is No. 5, “What to Expect When You”re Expecting” is No. 6, “Katy Perry: Part of Me” is No. 7, “Dr. Seuss” The Lorax” is No. 8, “Safe” is No. 9 and “The Lucky One” is No. 10.
