Banana Boat spray-on sunscreens recalled
The maker of Banana Boat spray-on sunscreens says five people in the United States and Canada have reported being burned when the product caught fire.
Energizer Holdings is recalling 23 products, The Christian Science Monitor reported. The company announced the recall Friday and said only spray-on sunscreens are involved.
The spray valves are designed to release more sunscreen than other brands, which means it takes longer to dry on the skin, Energizer said in a statement, CNN Money reported.
“If a consumer comes into contact with a flame or spark prior to complete drying of the product on the skin, there is a potential for the product to ignite,” Energizer said.
The company said anyone who has purchased the spray-on sunscreens should stop using them and can apply for a refund.
